Hello! Thanks for visiting. I like to write about books for fun–what I think works or doesn’t work, what moves me, new discoveries. I do not consider what I write here to be reviews, so I do not have a rating system of any sort. For me, this is simply continuing education in reading and writing.
My favorite books are: Plainsong (Kent Haruf); Cat’s Eye (Margaret Atwood); The Secret History (Donna Tartt); Birds of America (Lorrie Moore); Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage (Alice Munro); The Bright Forever (Lee Martin); Housekeeping (Marilynne Robinson); Two Girls, Fat and Thin (Mary Gaitskill); All My Friends Are Going to Be Strangers (Larry McMurtry); Genius (Patrick Tanner); Straight Man (Richard Russo)
I enjoy reading literary fiction (novels and story collections), classics, mystery, suspense, and YA. I also enjoy reading nonfiction books, including memoirs, biographies, history, and social and literary commentary. I do not typically read chick lit, romances, science fiction, graphic novels, or religious propaganda.
